Case study for analyzing nutrient-management technologies at three scales within a sewershed

چکیده
Centralized wastewater treatment plants remove nutrients prior to discharge. Recently, technologies have become available manage at different scales (individual buildings, neighborhoods/communities, or large centralized plants). Nutrient-recovery applied upstream of the plant may affect both flow rates and nutrient fluxes reaching plant. This study evaluates how introduction such affects efficiency economics management across a sewershed. Employing from that receives highly loaded municipal could reduce nitrogen loading mainstream train by over 50%, which generally reduces effluent concentrations saves money. In extreme cases, excessive removal can negatively biological processes Treatment sidestreams would likely be effective in reducing phosphorus loading, but not process.

Regulating farmer nutrient management: a three-state case study on the delmarva peninsula.
Growing concern about water quality issues, along with a series of fish kills in 1997, prompted Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia to adopt regulations to reduce nutrient pollution from agricultural nonpoint sources. All three states required farmers to follow a state-certified nutrient management plan that would "optimize crop yields and minimize environmental losses," although the policy-making...
متن کاملIntroducing a Project Management Framework for Transfer of Technologies
This paper aims at emphasizing the importance of establishing a Project Management (PM) system in Technology Transfer (TT) processes and developing a conceptual framework for it. TT is an important process in Technology Management affairs for all enterprises. Most of the time, lack of a particular concentration on technical, commercial and legal aspects of TT process, leads to mismanagement of...
متن کاملMethods for analyzing plant structure at different scales
In the framework of the modelling of plant structure and development, the main focus has been on the design of functional-structural models used in simulation experiments while far less effort has comparatively been devoted to develop dedicated analysis methods. Recent advances in biostatistics and more generally in biological data analysis are characterized by the development of dedicated meth...
